Scouts Milestone 1 review

What was your favourite adventure in the last few months? Why?SES visit. I helped with the planning. We have a lot of attendance from all groups (Cubs, Scouts, Venturers). Everyone learned something different at the end of the night. We also oirganise dinner (Dominos Pizza) and the drinks. SES was very informative and they were willing to teach us a lot of things.

What was the best Challenge you have been a part of? Why?The manly dam walk with a big group of scouts from our district. This was a long walk (half a day – 10k) in a really hot day. I helped with the preparation of the bag including clothes, snacks and drinks (to be hydrated all day). I also included swimmers and we stayed there after the hike for a swim at the dam.

What have you learnt through assisting and leading activities?That the planning is critical to have a sucessfull activity. SES visit took 90 days of planning. VIVID cruise took almost a month to plan. If we plan carefully, we will reduce our mistakes, people will enjoy the activity and they will tell their friends to join our unit.

How does leadership differ between various activities?Some activities require of some qualified to be the lead (John, Bruce or Simona), for example excursions to the city including transport from/to Bondi Junction.
Manly Dam hike was leaded by the district lead, because they invited different groups.
I have helped with other activities in a leadership role were the risks are minimal (no one can get lost)
